Question 1

A source reports flowering before an animal movement in one region. Give a careful conclusion.

Question 2

Explain how a numerical environmental survey and local seasonal knowledge could contribute different evidence.

Question 3

A class replaces community names with “ancient people”. Evaluate the wording.

Teacher answer key — 3 questions

Model responses identify the essential ideas. Accept scientifically correct alternatives that address the question; wording need not match exactly.

  1. The source documents that relationship in its stated region and period. Further local evidence would be needed to claim the same timing elsewhere.
  2. A survey supplies measurements for its sampling period; long-term knowledge can supply local relationships, context and changes over time. Meaningful use requires respectful partnership and clear methods.
  3. It erases specific attribution and wrongly implies the knowledge is only historical. Use accurate named attribution and acknowledge continuing knowledge systems.
