Design a fair comparison of two temperature tools in a cooling experiment.

Question 2

A highly magnified blurry image is used to count cells. Evaluate its reliability and suggest improvements.

Teacher answer key — 2 questions

Model responses identify the essential ideas. Accept scientifically correct alternatives that address the question; wording need not match exactly.

  1. Compare at the same location/time with a suitable reference and comparable response/placement; record repeated readings, sampling rate and calibration. Avoid inferring accuracy from display digits.
  2. Blur can merge boundaries so counts depend on judgement. Improve focus/resolution, calibrate scale, define counting rules and compare observers; magnification alone cannot recover missing detail.
