Question 1

Two studies use different release heights. Explain how this could affect comparison.

Question 2

Suggest a follow-up for an unexplained curved trend.

Question 3

What should be retained when a hypothesis is revised?

Teacher answer key — 3 questions

Model responses identify the essential ideas. Accept scientifically correct alternatives that address the question; wording need not match exactly.

  1. Descent time depends on the measured travel interval; different heights mean the studies do not measure under matching conditions. Compare methods before claiming contradiction.
  2. Collect additional observations across the relevant range under comparable conditions and check method/physical changes, rather than forcing a straight-line fit.
  3. Original question/prediction, raw data, analysis and the documented reason for revision. Do not rewrite the record to imply the new prediction came first.
