Extended Response

Beyond the syllabus. Question 1 below is a Year 12 question. Association and causation, lurking variables, designing a study to establish cause, and the difference between a statistically significant result and one with practical significance all sit outside Data analysis (MST-11-08), so none of it will be assessed in Year 11. The rest of this quiz is examinable and you do need it: classifying data, sampling and bias, frequency tables and histograms, mean, median and mode, range and population standard deviation, quartiles, box plots and outliers. Question 2 is a good example of the comparison work the exam does ask for.
