Any non-zero number divided by itself equals 1. Using the quotient law:
7⁴ ÷ 7⁴ = 1 and 7⁴⁻⁴ = 7⁰
Therefore 7⁰ = 1. In general, a⁰ = 1 for a ≠ 0. The expression 0⁰ is not assigned this Stage 4 rule.
